Fast and Furious Fifties
Feeling in the need of a complete gaming change , so set up a blatantly toy soldier game set in Albion in the 1950s. Will play it tomorrow when rain is forecast. Enjoyed gardening and a wood walk today
I think everyone had those because of the sets they sold. I got 8 tanks, including 3 Centurions. Never mind that the soldiers were WW2. All the tanks were post war.
Fabulous Fifties Figures and tanks and good to see the former scalectrix photographer there to capture it all on film. As Steve 8 points out, there was the weird Airfix playset mix of postwar and WW2. Fifty years on the same Airfix "playset mix" of different decades / periods of tanks and figures is still around in Pound store play sets with good sturdy copies of the preassembled Airfix Centurions (good value) such as these HTI figures https://www.amazon.co.uk/Combat-Force-Jumbo-Army-Pack/dp
I do like those Airfix Centurions, and following comments from 'Man of Tin' I have taken the occasional sneaky peek at the toy soldier sets in Poundland and similar shops. No luck yet, though!
A very impressive looking collection of figures from a variety of different sources. At first sight, I thought that the Centurions were Dinky ones ... a model that always impressed me!
Those British infantry look familiar. And is that one of the Airfix pre-assembled Centurions?
ReplyDeleteHerald figures, Dinky Supertpys Centurions

ReplyDeleteI’m not sure whether I had those Airfix sets or not...

I do recall the Airfix ones, I did have a few like the m113. These Dinkys are larger.
DeleteGreat old toys! A Britains's Farmer as insurgent? Looks like a fun game.
ReplyDeleteCountry and town militia. Town in boiler suits others in country kit or suits.
DeleteVery nice toys - I recognise the Britains / Herald figues and the Wombat A/Tank gun. Cheers Greg
ReplyDeleteOld faithfuls indeed!

They are Dinky, Dinky Supertoys indeed.
ReplyDeleteA bit of surprise when I saw the title. Hope it goes well.
ReplyDeleteI am envious of the Centurions!
I like the centurions too, great vehicles
