These arrived today. I got them because of the nurses and the pigs particularly. I was intrigued by the nurses , I assume the third one is a nurse too? The pigs are charming and I look forward to painting them up. The others bits and bobs are fine. The horse is slightly odd and I am interested in what make the wee animals are.
The third lady is not a nurse but a milkmaid at her bucket.
ReplyDeleteGreat, thanks.
DeleteYes a milkmaid I think .
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteMilkmaid but depending on the age of the scenario,
ReplyDeleteA) a nurse with the amputation bucket full of blood and limbs ... batttlefield medicine
B) 1960s Carry On Film, tired joke about Bed Baths.
Crescent prewar kneeling nurses, Britain's prewar and Post War milkmaid, John Hill Johilco bugler, Britain's WW2 troops?
Thanks Mark for Id
Deleteinfo.
Some good stuff here, will enhance game photos for sure.
ReplyDeleteMichael
I am a sucker for the bits a and bobs of set dressing.
DeleteAha I thought the nurses looked like the Crescent style, glad to hear it from someone who knows something about such things.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's a horse and not a mule?
Anyway, nice haul!
I usually check through Norman Joplin's brilliant Great Book of Hollowcast Figures for ID and various James Opie books on Britain's as well as the Andrew Rose book on Toy Soldiers.
DeleteA mule, makes a lot of sense when I look at it now, but from where and by whom?
DeleteWe do a recast of the crescent Nurse and I have a new version of it converted by Giles Brown to be more WW2 looking which needs releasing soon...
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the WW2 figure Mike.
DeleteThe figure is up in the shop now...
