Guns across the River

As I mentioned yesterday this book was waiting for me on my return from Edinburgh. As I began to read it and look at the maps and illustrations I was aware this was an excellent purchase. Written by Donald E Graves, it reads well and is well written. Someone has recommended his 1812 books to me too but I haven’t read any yet. The pictures are very well chosen and will aid my wee 54mm project along very nicely indeed…

  1. Very interesting, I have never heard of this conflict before, as the saying goes, "every day is a school day" Will now have to do a bit of digging on it. Interested to see your take on it.

  2. That is an interesting book. I should be painting the Perry Royal Marines for this period [from the Carlist Wars range] but this has stalled while I concentrate on scenery.
Thanks for sharing those inspirational pictures.

  3. At least one of the Allan Mallinson "Matthew Harvey of the Light Dragoons" is set in Canada in a not too dissimilar period.
