Bigger unit, how to base…

This is a bigger unit for the Tradgardland forces, an infantry regiment this time. It will be based in a similar way to the dragoons, six figures on a 50mm base. The unit is 48 figures including four standard bearers, four drummers and four officers. I am looking for ideas about how to distribute the standard bearers, drummers and officers amongst the eight bases that will constitute the unit.

  1. Sounds like four twelve-man companies to me (with the ability to play larger-scale games if you desire) - with one set of three (standard, music, officer) to every second base as the first line.

An alternative might be to simply drop two of the standards, put them and a music on one base (so that base would have four figures rather than six), and scatter the rest as desired, for flavor - basically one officer or drummer to every other base.

  2. I like Jennifer's first idea. You then have the flexibility to switch it to use the regiment as a brigade in a 'bigger' battle.

  3. I generally try to put my command " in the middle" so in your case, spread over bases two and three if the four base sub unit in Jennifers first example. Why four flags BTW, isn't ine or possibly two more normal?

    1. Four flags because l like flags and had bought enough standard bearers.
