I don’t know where my father picked up this catalogue for me. It was really aimed at the trade or shopkeepers rather than small boys like me. Nevertheless it was a joy then and a joy now too.
I took these photos yesterday of it as part of an email discussion from the VWC folk. As you can see it shows shop display as well as the figures.Battered, down at heel it has travel with me through many moves , thankfully.
Wonderful! Some of my earliest toy "soldiers" there!
ReplyDeleteMine too! My parents had been to see “ Rose Marie” on the stage in Peasholm Park before l was born l think. They had a copy of the programme lying about… perhaps l or they were subconsciously influenced?

Great stuff Alan. I too recognise some old friends there from my earliest toy soldier collections!
ReplyDeleteGood to see old friends once more.

Wow! That’s a real blast from the past. I had the Indian Encampment set one Christmas and some of the other figures. Got a lot of use out of them before they got passed on to younger family members.

Glad you enjoyed it. Loads of play value indeed.

Some very familiar figures there. Are you going to post pictures of the other pages? 1963 would be around the transition period to plastic and away from Hollowcast lead.
ReplyDeleteI might do if folk were interested…
