Herr Gruber’s Little Tank
My father had a pond in my teens in the garden. I have always wanted some water in the garden but never got round to it until now. Here is my zinc tank , newly filled up. I will add plants and a pump to create the sound of running water soon..This is a new venture for me, advice and suggestions most welcome.

It will freeze during the winter.
ReplyDeleteWon’t we all!
DeleteRenee will never fit in your ‘lidl tenk’ Lieutenant Gruber!
ReplyDeleteWater features are always nice. What is it about the sound of running water that is so restful? It’s almost like we’re hard-wired to appreciate it.
Running water or the sea is such a glorious sound. I miss Cornwall trips but look forward to some next year. I really ought to get onto the Fife Coastal path, a brief train ride away which is what is putting me off...
DeleteLove the pun, hope you get many hours of pleasure from it.
ReplyDeleteThanks on both fronts.
DeleteRemember to use native pond plants - there are serious alien non native species threats. Waterside Nurseries are good for this, clearly labelling the native stuff . Don't know about the freezing though in terms of pond life. There are also wildlife pond Facebook groups.
ReplyDeleteExcellent pun Mr Gruber. Coincidentally as family viewing we are steadily working our way once or twice a week through as the pantomime of occupied Europe that is Allo Allo DVD series 1 to 9. I didn't really watch this in the mid to late 80s. Watching the DVDs after watching a few clips of the longrunning without 1970s drama Secret War
Great advice re pond, thank you.
DeleteClassic viewing and part of everyone’s education irrespective of age. I am glad you are enjoying such classics.
Good idea and better than having to dig a hole .
