Out of Afrika or a semi flat Portable Colonial Wargame.

 Been doing some reading, painting, basing and planning over the past few days for some WW1 gaming in Afrika. Last year I tried a similar campaign idea in 10mm but found the figures too small. So I decided that the semi flat figures would work. Have a look at the photos below to meet the opposing commanders and see a couple of units as well as background reading.

      They are fun. The zebras were painted when I got the figures but needed restoration a rad. They are so filled with character.

    These have painted up well. The puns are flying, soon the guns will be blazing ... I hope the zebras have been well trained for this!

      Thanks. The puns are flying thick and fast with further punning bombardment imminent. The zebras are sadly used to such living here:)

    Hello old chap,

    Two books I would recommend for anything WW1 Africa related - Battle for the Bundu and Tip and Run. Byron Farwell penned The Great War in Africa and if you want a really bonkers but true story then Mimi and Tou Tou go forth will tick that particular box!

    Eric Knowles retail you used Battle for the Bundu as inspiration for elements of Madasahatta.

    Looks good and I cant wait to see what you do with this!

      Thanks for the suggestions David. I got The Battle for the Bundu in my early teens( terrific book still on the shelves here) and I loved it. Reread over the years. I will look out for the others you mention. I recall hearing of a book that was the Great War in Africa in Pictures but can’t track it down.
