On the workbench- 20mm Minoans

Been working on metal and plastic Minoans the last couple of days. The metal Newline Design are compatible with the plastic Linear A and mix well on the same bases, in this case 40mm Square from Warbase. I intend to use Fantastic Battles by Nic Wright as the rules. They are for both historical and fantasty armies and have interesting mechanisms plus ways of defining units. They are from the same stable as Irregular Wars which I used successfully with my 28mm Renaissance Irish.

  1. The Minoan archers look a lot like American Indians - just a thought for interchangeable armies - native Americans in loin cloths for Minoans.

    1. I know what you mean . I would have preferred an archer figure with boar tusk helmet but I can’t seem to find one in 20mm.

  2. I like the look of those. Who is their opponent?

    1. A box of Zveda plastic Egyptians has been sent off for. I I imagine them to be part of an amphibious invasion attempt on Crete or maybe soldiers whose ship was in a storm and ran aground on Crete. I am currently not intending for the Egyptians to have chariots as it would have been a logistical nightmare for them to take by sea but that might change...
I am really pleased how the plastic and metal look together, almost seamless.
