Uptown this morning I bought some Dettol to remove paint on my 40mm semi flat homecast figures. I carefully selected those to go into the pot , recorded them and their colour scheme by taking a photo and then poured the liquid in. In a few days they will be ready to scrub, rinse then paint.
I look forward to seeing them painted.
ReplyDeleteMe too, are you offering? Only joking :)

ReplyDelete"I love the smell of Dettol in the morning"

DeleteAlmost as evocative as Calomine Lotion for bringing me back to my childhood.

Remember to keep water well away from the Dettol. It will turn into a sticky emulsified mess.
ReplyDeleteScrub them with an old toothbrush, keep the toothbrush rinsed under a running tap before scrubbing off some more paint/dettol. Wear gloves if you have delicate skin.
Use an old rag to wipe off the figure as it nears removal of most of the paint. Let it dry out and attack the remaining paint with a sharp toothpick or a pin.
Helpful Jim. I have washed in a basin of water in past attempts so hopefully it will work better the way you suggested.
