Read this excellent book several times, an excellent story. They made a film of it in the 8o's I think, it was not too bad. I have often thought about the story as a wargame.
I have this book: an excellent yarn! It is amusing how plausibly Poul Anderson depicts the process by which a small English village conquers the galaxy...
Its medieval versus technology themes reminds me a little in reverse of Robert Harris’ The Second Sleep (2019) https://manoftinblogtwo.wordpress.com/2022/12/07/the-second-sleep-by-robert-harris/
