Hosting Roncesvaux 778 AD

Today l have been rebasing my 25mm Franks and Basques ( painted Minifigs, by Jim Duncan) for a game I am hosting tomorrow. A lighter armoured force of Basques will take on a heavier armoured Frankish force in a game very loosely inspired by the Battle of Roncesvaux . Here are some work in progress pictures-

We will be using DBV but l want to try these figures with Neil Thomas later. I will post pictures of the game after tomorrow.

  1. Cool!
I never encountered Basque forces before, on any blog or anything. :)

  3. Primary school library visit back in the 70s. Picked a forlorn plain covered book with a horn on the cover. Inside was a story based on the song of Roland. Totally fictional version of the battle but I was hooked. Military history and never judge a book by its cover.

    1. I had a copy of the Song of Roland when at School , don’t know what happened to it. Really must reread.
