I got this box ages ago and kept it for a rainy day. Today was one and so l opened it-
Here is everything you need to game with the Quar.Colourful and engaging box art , both the front picture and the blurb etc on the back.
The rules , cards and Quar filled sprues reek of high production values. Notice the cut out terrain on the box sides.
Alan, there are a few historical wargamers bloggers who have gone down the Quar path as special projects. It does look interesting and definitely provides something different to paint.
ReplyDeleteI am in good company then. I made the first figure yesterday and found it fiddly but fun to do.

Quar are brilliant, the whole back story is so involved and totally brilliant, I have loads of them in both metal and palstic in various states of nearly done to not started, great figures and have a real downtrodden charm about them.
ReplyDeleteWhat rules do you intend to use for the Quar?
DeleteAlan Tradgardland
Probably the Zombiesmith one "This Quar War" but not a hundred percent sure.
DeleteSomething I have looked at a few times but somehow not been enthused. One of my oppos however has jumped fully in.
ReplyDeleteI think they are bit like marmite so it’s a total immersion or nothing.

Your VBCW project just got Stranger ... enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSeparate strangeness but fun.

It looks like it has been beautifully produced - enjoy!
ReplyDeleteExcellent production values imho.

Whimsical and unusual. Several blogs have written about this topic and they all seem to be having fun. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteCertainly are and the blogs do have an enjoyment vibe don’t they.

Quar, strangeness and charm, Alan? Hawkwind fan back in the day?
ReplyDeleteI was, particularly of Quark Strangeness and Charm and the Elric based album, as well as the early stuff.
DeleteSaw them live at the Odeon in Edinburgh once back in the day.

The Quar certainly seem to be les figurines du jour at the moment, as Joe says, several blogs I visit are covering them at the moment.
ReplyDeleteTheir popularity has grown with the plastic set and the availability in the uk. I was reluctant to buy in when they had to come from the USA. Customs etc …

This seems part of a trend of fictionalising real world settings eg the recent WWI set whose name escapes me, the various Wierd War II sets. I've started skimming the rules just to see if there are any interesting ideas in them. I say 'the rules' but they are free on the website so they make be an earlier draft: https://rhyfler.com/rulebooks/
ReplyDeleteA War Transformed or Trench Crusade?
DeleteThese look very fun! I've been resisting the urge to pick any up!?
