On the work bench today

 Working on-

Decided to use these Wargames Illustrated freebies above in a different way…

Kitbashing for Turnip 28- a unit of Chaff ( skirmishers) being prepared. A fun thing to do.
Old school Bavarian figures ( light infantry and line infantry) for A Portable Napoleonic Wargame.

  1. The Bavarians have the coolest coats and, in that period, the coolest hats.
I do like your based with the rounded corners.

    1. I agree re Bavarians. I got the Osprey on them about forty years ago. It has lovely paintings of the uniforms plus pig and civilians. I was hooked. Round corners are fun too.

  2. I look forward to seeing the Turnip troops painted. Although I love fantasy stuff I can't help thinking of practical considerations; For example, archers didn't generally wear enclosed helmets, partly because they might not have access to them but also because they would hinder vision. I assume the same with troops with firearms, although a helmet which left the face uncovered would make sense.

    1. Thanks. Practically goes out the window in this case, it’s all about the look!

  3. You certainly get drawn to the esoteric. I've seen some cleverly modelled Turnip Wars figures but they don't appeal to me. The Bavarians however are very smart.

    1. One man’s esoterica is another man’s commonplace. The kit bashing is fun and it is part of a vibrant creative community. I’m a sucker for Bavarians.

  5. Love the helmet on that chaff figure on the left! Turnip28 is fun for the freedom of making your own Napoleonic army without worrying about history. It’s just a mold-covered version of imagi-nations. That’s a big part of what appeals to me, because I feel drowned when I try to start studying Napoleonics.
