The game’s afoot

The manoeuvres have just begun ( fortunately the open roofed  barn and farmhouse were finished just in time) with the defence of Grange farm. The Umpires are conversing and making notes. No one know where the Guards will attack from. Only time will tell…

  1. I especially like the cyclists. Are they based on a historical unit? The grey fellows also look good, especially the one with peak cap, a nice variation. Are they a yeomanry unit?

    1. 26th Middlesex are the grey chaps. Here’s a fascinating link-

The rifle green clad fellows are a made up unit based on the BBC’s The Archers on the radio.
The other grey unit is based on another volunteer uniform but I can’t recall which one.

  2. The Territorial Volunteers look like a stalwart bunch of chaps, ready to give the Guards a run for their money!

  3. I'm sure the keen-ness of the Territorials under canny leadership of men such as Capt Mainwearing the Elder will fend of the professionals ("If anyone approaches, you shout, 'Halt! Who goes there?' And then you take down their credentials").

    1. H G Wells style buildings at their best/worst. I really enjoyed making them. There are around ten buildings that size, a bigger church and a Manor House. Quite a cardboard village. Mist get them all out on the dining room table one day…

  5. Good job on the buildings! They look just right for this set up.
