Through my daughters I have become initiated into the world of coffee, coffee made in arcane devices with fanciful names. I have gone from thinking it a fad to becoming a willing participation in the rituals of coffee making and drinking. This week l was taken to Lowdown https://www.lowdown.coffee/
We sat outdoors, had coffee and a cinnamon bun. Both were splendid. Well worth a visit the next time you are in George Street.
In other news l bought a fascinating book called “ Balkan Fabrications “ on a visit to Topping & Co. I thought l had survived unscathed and but this book jumped off the shelf and I could not say no. Here is a wee bit about it-
The armies of Ostmerk and Morava continue to move forward as I listen to podcasts about The Rings of Power whilst painting.
No see what happens when you start meddling with strange rituals!
ReplyDeleteBut coffee and cinnamon buns. Mmmmm!

DeleteCan’t go wrong with that combo!

Enjoy your arcane rituals. I too get assaulted by books who demand to come with me.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed dangerous to enter bookshops on many levels…

Ah yes, we all seem to have succumbed to the lure of coffee...again (as you will know, coffee shops were a big thing back in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries) Until about ten years ago, I probably drank two or three coffees a year (I still never drink instant coffee as it is dreadful stuff) but with the proliferation of cafes and Nespresso machines, I now rarely go a day without one. Still drink more tea than coffee, but only just!
ReplyDeleteBit off tea currently but never off coffee.

Cinnamon buns sound good, but you can keep the coffee. I'll take some tea or hot chocolate instead. :D
ReplyDeleteAh yes, getting waylaid by books. Been there many a time and they still manage to get me.
This malevolent book danger seems world wide!

I dearly love tea, but found a nice iced coffee with hazelnut essence goes down a treat in the torrid heat of a Midwestern summer.
ReplyDeleteIced coffee sans milk is something I enjoy in the summer too.
