I was in Edinburgh yesterday morning en route to church. I saw the crowds begin to gather , the police and security too. This was the scene on the Royal Mile at around 10:15 am-
Later I was very moved when I had to read these bidding prayers-
I didn’t stay in town to see the Queen’s coffin arrive but felt I had indeed touched history in a small way.
Sad times indeed.

Amazing scenes of the cortège travelling down from Ballater and making its way to Holyrood. Here in NZ, a memorial service is planned for 26 Sept, along with a one off public holiday.
ReplyDeleteThey were incredible indeed. Will the Coronation be a public holiday in NZ too?

I would not put money on that one Alan - we have had a bit of whinging about a holiday hurting all the small businesses who have "done it so tough" through Covid for the last 30 months.....not sure how the Government would get on if they said everything had to close down again for the Coronation!
DeleteI hope that there was at least a moment some peace and respect for her family from the public. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteConcur on both counts.

Fascinating re your daughter. I know what you mean about the Queen’s death reminds us of our mothers . My daughters have very much seen the events through the lens of their own mother’s death.
