Eagle comic circa 1960
Here are some pictures from a hobby article from the Eagle Comic-
Excellent find - the delights of hot lead. Go on, you know you want to ...
In case anybody wants to try this old method, the plaster mould needs to have thoroughly dried out otherwise if it is still damp or has any moisture left in it. I am told it can explode hot metal everywhere. PGreat stories of Donald Featherstone dressing up in scarves hat goggles gloves and outer wear to do his first such castings - thankfully without exploding metal Plaster castings only last for a limited number of castings before the detail starts to crumble and they become full of flash. Silicone rubber has mostly taken over such home mould making.
Eagle was my dad's comic of choice for me (I preferred Hotspur) but I lapped it up just the same. I think 'Luck of the legion' probably has a few useful scenarios?
Missed this article. I loved the Eagle, especially the quality of the drawings. I couldnt afford to buy the comic but eagerly would swop them for my Commando comics.
