Board gaming in the USA…

G & I set up a strategic game based on the ACW including military, naval, political and economic aspects. Today was a trial run and first look at the mechanics. Complicated, interesting and with a lot to think about, we barely got one turn finished. So it’s back to reading the rules and reflecting on today. Due to circumstances the next game won’t be for a few weeks.

  1. Very interesting. That looks like an update of The Civil War by Victory Games which I remember playing in late 80s and 90s. Very complex but reasonable when we got into it. If I recall it also had a west map. If you are interested, a much simpler strategic game on the ACW is A House Divided.

  2. The map orientation throws me a bit l have to say. My knowledge of USA geography is shameful too and the fact there are at least two Springfields! Whilst I abhor complicated Wargames rules in figure games l feel the opposite in board games, odd I know but l can’t explain it. I look forward to getting to know the game better. Thanks for the recommendation btw.
