I expected grey plastic but was not deterred by the blue , well a little.
Here are some first attempts at painting yesterday afternoon and early evening.
All in all they have come up nicely so far.
State of play when I left them to dry overnight. I will continue this morning. The figures will represent the forces of the Duchy of Volare Cantare. For those who haven’t ventured into the Duchy here is a wee introduction from thirteen years ago -

They'll soon be finished and ready for a skirmish!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Can’t wait…

I love the look of these figures … and they’ll make great opponents for your Transilvanians.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Bob.
Quite agree on both fronts.

Very inspirational! In fact you have got me digging out and painting a BEF force that has been waiting far too long.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, what scale, make and rules?
DeleteAlan Tradgardland
Hi Alan, They are SHQ 20mm. Rules are Rapid fire reloaded. I bought these many years ago as we were playing a mini interwar campaign. The French republic intervened in the SCW. Causing the UK to land an Expeditionary force. Unfortunately the campaign fizzled out before BEF was painted. We did play some interesting games though.
DeleteSounds very interesting indeed. I look forward to hearing more of this…

Looking good already! I like the look of Stelets-R figures: not as 'gracile' as Zvezda, but full of character!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Great figures Strelets.

A peculiar blue plastic but these have painted up well, almost generic winter figures, not too specific and so very useful for interbellum / Tintin / ImagiNations games …
ReplyDeleteReally didn’t like the colour at all but they have turned out well.
DeleteAlan Tradgardland
I was intrigued you painted them on the sprue.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to an action report when the game is ready.
Stephen
So much easier to hold when painting, it works really well for me. After action report in the not too distant future…

Alan, I'd be interested to know what painting technique you used; washes or Army painter wash over colours? Very effective.
ReplyDeleteNeil
Painting technique shamefully easy. Wash in detergent, do flesh, rifle brown, leather brown webbing/equipment/ shoes, metal on rifles/smgs
ReplyDeletethen wash of Army Painter Strong Tone and finally gloss varnish . Shamefully simple but effective.

I hadn't realised you don't paint the uniform but now I get it!
DeleteAlan, these fellas and the Romanians look magnificent. An excellent job on this very simple project.

Cheers Eric, it’s been great fun.
