My first Shingles jab has left me exhausted. I wasn’t expecting this as l have never had any reaction to any jabs before, except for a sore arm. I haven’t been doing much just resting and drinking weak tea.
However some work has been done on the pikemen of O’Cahan’s.
I have given them their jabbing weapons in the shape of pikes but have run out of them. The mat is just a stable surface to stand them on while gluing the pikes to the figures. It is not planned basing as the figures come with cast on bases and I have no intention of sticking them to card or anything. They will drill on their own bases and muster thus on the battlefield. The Pikemen on the painting table with some musketeers, officers and musicians in the background. My haul of Suren figures has the musketeers with helmets so l will just run with that.
In other news l located the photo of the O’Cahan’s standard from my time-
This will be the one to be replicated in miniature.

Tradgardmastare,
ReplyDeleteThe shingles jab seems to be quite potent, and when I had mine, I had a couple of days of feeling under the weather afterwards.
I hope that you feel better soon.
All the best,
Bob
Fine now, well worth it. Strange though.

Sorry you're going through a reaction, mate.
ReplyDeleteFine now and well worth it imho.

My wife and I are in our 70's and never took any jabs, flu, covid, shingles or any of the others and we are fine.
ReplyDeleteInteresting.

Your figures are turning out well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am rather pleased with them. They are classic sculpts.

Hope you feel better soon! Are you going to run an ECW Re-enactment Wargame? I think that might be a splendid project.
ReplyDeleteEric
I’m fine. A tad sad to hear the Eagles being beaten on the wireless last night. I will do a reenactment game ( good excuse for minimal or token amount of cavalry) using the rules in the Portable Wargame volume but other stuff too.

Having had shingles I can assure you that a couple of naff days is well worth it. The Willie figures are splendid.
ReplyDeleteVery true Brian. Thanks for the kind words re figures.

Nice figures and should look good once all are done. Great to get free Medicare on your blog, my wife 65 was offered it but nhs sent me a message saying as I was 67 I had to wait till I was 70 :0, I think it was a typo but really…. Well really a friend of mine ended up with facial scarrs - not pleasant. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe figures are indeed nice and I feel I am fortunate to have them. I can only think it is a typo…

I had shingles 10 years ago and still get a 'pins and needles' feeling in the area that was affected back then - not a big deal but a bit annoying when trying to sleep! Caught it early at the time and didn't suffer too much, but the jab seems worthwhile. Hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteInteresting to hear your experience…

Thanks. I agree , it seems worthwhile to me too.
