Planning ahead- Winter and Continuation Wars in 54mm

I have begun to plan towards a 54mm project this coming autumn. I have been  reading around the subject, collecting figures etc. Due to John Y’s blog https://54mmorfight.blogspot.com/ l came across the Hammer rules system. They looked just what I was after and so I bought Winter Hammer. A chance find in the shed  of 54mm figures in winter kit (  Mars Elite German set) unopened  ( I don’t remember buying them at all )has boosted my Finnish forces which currently stand at a box of Finns in Winter kit got last Christmas as a present. The Russians are a tad more awkward currently consisting of some Airfix figures and a bid on Hing Fat ones. Other than that ,still looking. Initial reading of Winter Hammer is very encouraging and I hope to get a trial game in soonish. I am also considering trying to convert them to gridded use but we will see...

    1. A heady mix . Did you not see the others waiting their turn in the background, perhaps they were camouflaged.

    2. The background and sides of anyone's painting desk are often the most intriguing bit, rather than what is centre stage ...

  2. It's always fun when you discover figures but have no recollection of where they came from!! Sounds like an interesting project

    2. I know. It’s an ear worm for me too.

There’s a few more of that ilk from the era here:

  5. Your post reminds me that I should print out the rules - scrolling on my cell phone to check something in the PDF is no fun. I hope the Hing Fat auction worked out!

    1. I found those inexpensive ones I had mentioned, on ebay though, not Amazon now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/114943279547?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180816085401%26meid%3D0df9a3a6fa2a47ca8a70d9cf351a950d%26pid%3D100970%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D114943279547%26itm%3D114943279547%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100970.m5481&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad72344b5-0d9a-11ec-ae57-0ec516861fdc%7Cparentrq%3Ab194c6ed17b0aaf5e1a72d9ffffaa3d8%7Ciid%3A1&shqty=1&isGTR=1#shId

That link is really ugly but it does go to the page and they do international shipping (they are US based). Depending on how many sets you want, it might be worth the shipping cost.

      cheers!
