At Woking l was most taken with Battle Masters. I wasn’t really interested in the figures but wanted the mat and cards, dice and bits n bobs. I ordered them from eBay and they arrived-
I wanted to use the rules in a late 17th century context and with larger figures. Here is a scale comparison between a 28mm figure and a 60mm -
So I set up a game primarily to see the look of the thing and to have a wee play around with the rules-
A work in progress…
That mat looks very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteI was very pleased when I unpacked it.

Very nice AND very interesting. Looking forward to seeing how this, er, plays out.

I am pleased with the look and the rules ideas so far.

Oh, most interesting and unexpected variation, I'd love to hear more of this
ReplyDeleteThanks. More info as I develop the game…

A lovely setup with you new items. Did you just set them up to take the photos, or did you play a game as well? Did the trees come with the set, or did you already have them? They fits the battle mat and your miniature very well. I guess you can use this for other hex games as well, PW for instance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Thanks. The trees are mdf from the internet and painted some time ago. I set the thing up and played a bit. The mat will serve well with PW too .

Very interesting idea, I quite like the idea of Battle Masters having seen a few post on the Lead Adventure Forum but would have no thought to use them for historicals, look forward to seeing your results with this concept.
ReplyDeleteThanks,it is a fun system. Has lots of potential plus visual appeal.

Interesting, never heard of this before.
ReplyDeleteWell worth reading about on the interweb..

I had to look that one up. I'm not a fan of the mat but it presumably makes for a quick set up. I do like the figures on show. Is it a Swedish/Danish clash?
ReplyDeleteStephen
I can see the mat being a tad “Marmite “ so to speak. Figures are mainly Alexander’s Toy Soldiers, expensive supplemented with cheap ish Del Prado cavalry and plastic artillery. The clash is between Danish invaders, turncoat English against James I and his army in 1690 , a what if…

Looks brilliant with those ATS figures, did the system work well for an historical game?
ReplyDeleteThanks . ATS are lovely and their maker is a great guy to deal with. I commissioned the pikes for example.

Well done Alan! I sold off the original fanstasy figures that came with the game, as like you I wasn't a fan of them. I love your ATS figures amd must get some myself soon. Cheers, Anthony.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I look forward to seeing what you do with them.

Brilliant idea! Keep us posted as to how it goes and hope that you share the rules.
ReplyDeleteThanks, will do…
