We are in the season of Easter. After church on Easter Day we had a lovely meal, created by my middle daughter followed by an Easter egg hunt in the garden.
The sun had come out making it warmer and more enjoyable to be outdoors.
Last week whilst looking for dice I came across a box file a neighbour had given me just before he moved house. It contained a half finished wargaming project-
It contained 1/72 resin vehicles and American figures from Valiant Miniatures. Some painted and some still on the sprue. Too small to be incorporated into my 28mm Bolt Action project and too big to be in my 20mm Rapid fire one , the box would have to be a stand alone project. But what…
Coincidentally we had recently been watching old episodes of Great British Menu and the theme had been the anniversary of D day. As part of the programme veterans and civilians had been interviewed telling of their memories of the time. It had been most interesting. I realised that my knowledge of the event was less than other campaigns of WW2 . I decided to remedy this and began to listen to Al Murray and James Holland on their excellent podcast “ We have ways of making you talk” and the appropriate episodes. Podcasts can be listened to during, cooking, cleaning and hobby activities and are just the thing for me. I got drawn in to complexity of the D day preparations and subsequent events.
Being me instead of completing the Box file contents l looked on line for opponents and found “ Germans in Normandy 1944 “ box of 67 hard plastic figures for a very reasonable price-
Work has begun on them. I like hard plastic figures preferring working with plastic cement to superglue. I will finish the Germans then finish the half completed Americans. After that a few German tanks need to be sourced and a game will be had…
.
Nice find and subsequent purchase - I have the British and the Germans in Normandy boxes by Valiant, reinforced by a smattering of the other box of German infantry they do - didn't get the Americans and for some reason, they never did Russians, so I had to make do with PSC (I think) which weren't as nice, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThey are nice , crisp sculpts. Not too fiddly to stick together.
