Arrived today.

I was fortunate to get this second hand earlier in the week-

It arrived today. The illustrations are utterly charming and inspiring.

The Masked Tradgardlander or Fifteenth Century Swedes prior to posting

I finished the Swedes on Wednesday and took these photos prior to packing them in bubble wrap.

 This would be my first time in a shop since around the 12th of March. I have been on local walks, ventured into the high street without going in anywhere but never inside. So I set off with mask, contactless card and various important items to post plus the lead. One person serving wore no mask, the other wore one over her mouth and the customers were masked up like me. My mask ( which I firmly believe is so important for all of us, just in case you thought I was saying otherwise) kept slipping, I tried to remedy it but to little avail. I felt a stranger in a strange land. I really don’t fancy repeating the retail experience again soon.

Anyway the Swedes are off to feature in our weekly dba games as opponents for other 15th Century armies. The Swedes are mainly blades and bows/crossbows ( 4Bd and 4Cb ) and an element of Saami scouts (ps). All on foot we shall see how they fight soon I hope.  I posted these pictures as someone asked to see the figures.

Carl Rochling

Ed kindly identified my painting from yesterday as being by Carl Rochling and pertaining to the 1806/07 period in the Napoleonic Wars. The style was familiar to me and sure enough,after some searching I found this on the bookshelf-

Painting today : 40mm Saami tribal warriors

Started an online course today and cut the grass etc but still managed to have some hobby time. I worked on converting some figures to Saami . I gave the cloaks  texture in order for them to look more like animal skins, which has worked well. Coffee stirrers as skis as ever...

Interesting painting

I found this somewhere on the inter ether. I recognise the painter’s initials and think it must depict the Prussian army in the earlier Napoleonic period by the uniforms. They look to me like escaped Prussians by the uniforms. I am intrigued by the incident it depicts. Any one got any more information?

It is one of those pictures that sets the mind racing for a skirmish game...

I drew out a grid on one side of the cloth this morning and have taken a few photos just to get the look of things.
