Saturday

Having seen my middle daughter off on her recce of south coast and far west universities l quickly got some shopping and hurried home to listen to Test Match Special. Rain had stopped play but the conversation was as interesting as ever.

Pottered pleasantly in the garden as well as working on the above landship. Off on Monday as it is a holiday weekend in Fife.

  1. Excellent idea for a land ship ... and a great Airfix model with men with top hats!
Passing through Bude this week I visited Goldsworthy Gurneys Castle (Museum) and this steam jet inventor helped with Stevenson and the Rocket. I will follow this story up for the blog. Gurney invented a steam drag (steam Waggon) in 1829 that the Duke of Wellington and the British army came to see. Sadly canals and railways and other transport opposition got in the way and superseded but we could have had steam army wagons and gun carriages in the 1830s! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldsworthy_Gurney

    2. It is a lovely thing to have directly outside my bedroom window. Jan had the vision to plant trees and a beech hedge which having the very making of the garden. It is a lovely peaceful place to be in despite being a tad ragged around the edges like myself.
