The Philatelic war of 1959

Decided to try out the rules from 54mm or Flight ( G Company aka Company Fire Lite by John Yorio) available here

The tank is by Dinky, Infantry and Cavalry homecasts (very kindly cast for me by Mark Man of Tin) from Holger Eriksson moulds  and heavy weapons from pound store figures. The scenario is from the little know intervention by Swedish troops in the Duchy of Tradgardland’s internal unrest over the succession of the new duke. I am just get used to the rules and hope to play through some further scenarios from this fascinating conflict.

  1. Great looking little game. I like the mix of cavalry and armour (is it a Chieftain tank?), and the figures are very nice. I intend to try out John's rules myself sometime.

  2. The tank is a centurion. The HE figures are full of charm.

  3. Well, based on the pictures, the Philatelic War has my Stamp of approval!

  4. Thank you so much for giving the rules a try! The table looks great. How did you decide to handle cavalry movement?

I realized too late that the close combat rules are is not nearly decisive enough. I'll be updating the rules again shortly to fix that.

  5. I did cavalry as bicycles. I look forward to seeing the changes you will make

  6. Fast work! The Prince August 40mm Swedish Army figures have 'scrubbed up well' with paint and the Pound Store Plastic HMG / anti-tank figures mix in well. The bicycles are a great touch!
In case anyone wants to cast their own (I'm not taking general orders) look at the HE Swedish 1958 limited range (nice SMG figure to add):

    1. Bicycle was from Ross Mcf . I am pleased with how it turned out.

  7. Interesting. I have that very Centurion model.
