Prince August Compatibility question ...

I have been interested in these Irregular Miniatures 42mm quarter flats for ages. I wondered about their compatibility to fight in games with the P.A semi flats. As I was ordering some highlanders ( a story for another day) I got a single French Infantry figure ( from the syw in America range) to have a look at. I really like the look of him but wonder if he would work alongside the Prince August ones. Here are some comparison photos. Remember I don’t want to mix them in the same unit just have them in the same game. Let me know what you think.

French Generals- suggestions sought...

Here are a couple of 40mm French Generals , don’t know the make of figure btw, in the country-

I am looking for suggestions for names and/or titles for them. All I have come up with is General Carre- Fisher and General Temps- Perdu, not good I am more than happy to acknowledge. Do have a think and leave your suggestions here. Thanks in advance.

Repairs, renovations and rebasing

I spent much of today outdoors or in the shed, sorting out the 40mm figures in various ways. Click on the photos to enlarge them and see them better.

Currently looking at these rules as a basis for the games using the 40mm figures.

On the work bench

Today , after some gardening,was partially spent rebasing figures and organising what will be some French Light troops of the syw. I attempted some hand drawn and coloured flags which were a disaster. The pens made the paper too vulnerable and the look was awful.

I will have a think and try later. I don’t imagine that commercially available flags are produced for these lesser well known units. So any flag making suggestions welcome. On a more positive front this arrived from the splendid folks at Caliver Books-

This is a visually impressive book, well produced with lots of information, scenarios and inspiration for the hobby. I have only begun reading it but I am most impressed so far. So tomorrow will bring some more sorting , rebasing and perhaps another go at the flags. Some sun would be appreciated also.

In the shed again...

Today I began to sort out my 40mm 18th Century figures who haven’t seen the light of day for ages, some if at all. I am keen to do some Seven Years War western front games with small forces. Here are some pictures of the collection being dusted with a view to repairs -

I have been inspired partly by the conversations and figures on Saturday’s Zoom and also by a desire to get my old school figures into play. A Charles Grant book has been ordered and some of my reference books ( old and new) looked out not to mention the SYW project on the internet.
