Revisiting

I have been thinking of a wee side project for the coming dark evenings, something not too taxing in terms of  numbers of figures and also  rules. Something accessible and fun. My influences are "By the sword divided" the Sealed Knot and the below-
I really like George Gush's book and especially the chapter on wargaming the ECW- with photographs of Minifigs and Airfix cottages. I also really enjoyed the Portable Wargame English Civil War rules. So I thought that might revisit the ECW ( I first visited it in my teens with Minifigs armies ,sadly long since gone) and here is the first step on the way-
I intend to use Minifigs 25mm figures for the project being a nod to my first armies in this period and use the Portable Wargame ECW rules by Steven Page, based on Bob Cordery and Joe Morschouser for a quick ,fun game.

  3. Wonderful, Alan.
Where will you set this little project? A fictional English county? Or did Tradgardland have a long forgotten 17th century spat between the royal house and rebellious Parliamentarian types?
    I'll watch with interest.

  4. One of the Airfix books that eluded me, I fear. A nice little project to go on with, Alan. I've just ordered a batch of Pendraken Miniatures ECW to get back into the period. Have fun!

  5. Tradgardmastare,

I like the sound of your new project, especially as it seems to bring together all sorts of different elements ... including those lovely Minifigs! I look forward to seeing how it develops.

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. Interesting new project.

Like the use of Minifigs - my original ECW army when I was at school were composed of Minfigs

  8. I was able to pick up the Airfix Guide a year or so back. A great read, packing a lot into a few pages. I was thinking of ECW games and that the Perth guys might try a variation of the Maurice rules.
