Father Brown in imaginations
My hosts ,when I was away , mentioned a GKC Father Brown short story set in a Zenda like country. They did not know which of the stories it was in. I have tried to find out which yesterday to no avail , can you help? Thanks in anticipation .
I think I came across something once upon a time about a PG Wodehouse story or book set in some Ruritanian-like setting, too, but never found the actual story or book. Or maybe I just imagined the whole thing? :D
Again according to TVTropes (the Librarian's Friend, I call it), an "ex-king" of Ruritania or Graustark features in several Jeeves stories, retired in London.
I have a few Ruritanian-esque stories/books. There's one by Edgar Rice Burroughs (The Mad King) and one by Andre Norton (The Prince Commands). I have a dvd set with both the Ronald Colman Prisoner of Zenda and the Stewart Granger remake (practically shot for shot, line for line identical). Then Get Smart did a spoof on it, too. As did The Great Race (with Jack Lemmon playing the dual role).
According to TVTropes, a Ruritania named Heiligwaldenstein is the setting for "The Fairy Tale of Father Brown."
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! I found this audio book version-

Tradgardmastare,
ReplyDeleteThe name translates as ‘Holy Waldenstein’.
All the best,
Bob
Tradgardmastare,

All the best,
Bob
