Watched etc

And so it ends isolation today. I have not felt really ill but the process seems to have exhausted me and left me a tad low and fearful. I have no idea how I got it, my family have had it and are ok , there is much to be grateful for.

I really enjoyed the birds which visited the garden, they add something beyond their quantity, size and number.

I’ve not been feeling a hobby mojo really. I have enjoyed reading the blogs of others but desire/enthusiasm to do much painting or modelling has gone. I tried a little in isolation but put it away , dissatisfied with it. I managed to finish some tv series l had started some time ago.

Anyway some viewing recommendations-

“Ride upon the storm”  a Danish drama set around Copenhagen. It is the story of a dynasty of Lutheran clergy in the contemporary church. Thought provoking and well acted. Available Channel 4 od

“The Mandalorian “  as one who fell asleep in the cinema when the films first came out I was not expecting to be gripped by this.I much prefer the low level stuff of this to mass X wing battles and huge space fleets. Skirmish level not brigade and above. I was however really pulled into the story.I love the different races, the scenery and the background touches. Story is exciting, Western like, and engaging. Just finished this and have just started “The book of Boba Flett” which has begun really well.

Also finished “The Wheel of Time” which I liked but not as much as “The Witcher”

As for the hobby mojo ,I hope it returns quickly…

  1. Aren’t birds great? We take great enjoyment from our bird feeders. Mojo ebbs and flows, and there are times I literally have to force myself to the paint bench. But for me, it’s more the meditation aspect of painting that is becoming more important than the finished product. I tell people it’s my Zen, so to speak.

I hope you feel better soon, especially as you move beyond isolation.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

  2. Is it just me or have birds got louder again like during the first lockdown in 2020?

Thanks for the viewing tips. I think the first is more likely to get watched here. I consciously ration my sci-fi
    😁

  3. Thankful that you’re feeling better. I love the Mandalorian, it’s a western about fatherhood! I’ve been having trouble getting into painting for the moment. There’s so much to be done. But I think it’s ok to not “feel it” with the hobby sometimes. It’s there for us, not the other way around, right?

  7. I am pleased that you have come through Covid relatively unscathed and hopefully you will feel the hobby mojo return as your health improves. When I was sick for a week just before Christmas (non Covid) I could not be bothered doing any painting either, despite having masses of spare time to fill.

  9. I find I do go through phases where my various interests wax and wane. I just pick up whichever ones interest me at the time. If I want to get some minis painted it helps if they are something fun, and then I try to do a little bit at least once a day, and sometimes more often. Eventually I reach a point where they are getting close enough to being done that I want to push through and see the final result.

  10. I'm glad you're okay! My bout with the plague seems to have reduced my interest too - I could have spent the week of isolation snipping or even painting. Did get a couple Charles Grant books in to read and a surprise delivery of a couple other toys and games.

  11. Birds are a great distraction (especially when I'm meant to be working!) although I've had to stop feeding mine for a while as the local rats were getting too well fed on the seeds!
Glad to hear you're on the mend.

    1. Thanks. A very fat squirrel has appeared but thankfully no rats.
