Candlemas

Today was my eldest’s  birthday. We celebrated by going for a wee trip to South Queensferry, breakfasting at Scott’s and then having a wander about.

Secondly,  a few pictures of the contents of yesterday’s parcel from the East-

  1. Those are the Russian 54mm fantasy figures, right? They look like they have superb sculpting from what I’ve seen, they should make for splendid gaming!

  3. Hah....in picture two, I am pretty sure my family and I dined in an Italian restaurant to the left, that kind of juts out into the harbour, last time we were back in the UK about six years ago! The street looks exactly the same, which, being an older British town, it probably is!

    1. I know exactly the restaurant you mean. It is a lovely unchanging town beside the sea.

  5. Interested to see how you get on with the Technolog figures. I bought a load of the fantasy ones in early 2020 excited about a 54mm project and a couple of models in stopped because I just couldn't get into them. They called for a very different painting technique (even to the Historex I used to paint in the 90s) and I just wasn't feeling it. Stranger things going on that there looked from bare plastic.

    1. I have just begun the orcs and am enjoying the way my acrylics have adhered so far. The weapons are a tad ott for me but I will not change them on these until I see how it all looks. I am not a painter of great prowess but l will give them a go. I didn’t know you were into Historex, l recall them from my dim and distant past.
I think I might add green stuff details in the future …

    2. It was a passing thing fuelled by a love of Napoleonic uniforms and the work of Bill Horan discovered through a military book club volume.

  8. Where did you buy the Tehnolog miniatures from? eBay seems to be the main place. Is there a seller you recommend.
