Nostalgia, a gift etc

.The postman arrived in my absence - good job my eldest was on study leave to take it in! A parcel awaited me from James of OSW. Inside ,as well as the expected Airfix chaps, a surprise was there in the form of two minitanks!! My old school project has moved forward dramatically. Cheers James you are indeed a most generous chap!
Jan & I went in for her scan results (Jan and I's 20th wedding anniversary is today too). She got good scan results and all is well! She will go back every 3 months over the next two years and then every six months for a further 3 years.
We will celebrate with a meal with the family , a quiet eveing and perhaps some paint to plastic...
p.s Ottomans arrived over weekend too. There is much to be done but I look forward to the Imperium/Austrians having a different force this year!

  1. My best wishes and congratulations to you both.

I look forward to seeing how your Charles Grant project progresses.

  2. Congrats on 20 years and the good scan results! May you continue for many more years and anniversaries!

  3. Airfix - that is nostalgia!

Congrats to both of you on the scan results. Splendid news!

  4. Great news Alan and Jan. I'm really thrilled for you, and know how you must feel just now. Never underestimate the size of the hurdle you just cleared.

PS.Hope we can get a game sometime in 2011...

  5. Happy anniversary to Jan and you! And it is great news about Jan's recovery. I hope everything continues well for her.

  6. excellent news all round - have fun

  7. Thanks Gentlemen for your kind wishes and congratulations!
    best wishes
p.s a game would be good Phil...

  8. I shall add my (late) congratulations
A grand achievment...I also have been together with my wife for 20 years now. There´s few like us about these days.

  9. Belated congratulations. My wife has tolerated me and my wargaming for 28 years ... and sometimes I don't know how she has!

Good luck with your project. I have had something similar in mind for a couple of years but just don't seem to have the time to get it off the ground yet.

One day ... one day ...

    All the best,

  10. Alan,

congrats and...maybe I can help the project forward?
I think I can manage to dig up some more original Airfix German AND British infantry, if you're still interested, of course. I even still have the little AT guns that go with them.

  11. Happy Anniversary and congratulations on the good medical report!

You have a generous friend in James, indeed, some very nice Roco items there. I'll warn you, as someone who's been hunting Minitanks on and off for a year or two now, that they can be hard to find at a decent price, *especially* the halftracks and trucks. Those tend to run $12-20 each for a true Minitank.

Depending on what bothers you and does not bother you, however, it is possible to supplement with a variety of toy vehicles of approximate but not exact scale. That's what I do in my own forces, adding Minitanks where I can and making do with stand-ins otherwise.
