The battle commences.
I have started the WW2 game and here is what has happened so far...
Hi Alan- a nice compact WW2 game - glad your keeping busy and occupied with your figures, terrain and vehicles. Interesting to see if the Brits can hold on to final victory. Cheers. KEV.
As I found in the Forest of Gondal game, The first few turns of waiting to be attacked can be a trifle dull but at least playing solo it sort of programmes one side (delay and defend your home ground at all costs until the Regular Army arrives - if ever ) whilst the attacker obviously is programmed to attack or be wiped out or repulsed. In case of German paratroops etc, they also can be mopped up in small numbers and fail to achieve their objective whilst waiting for their Regular Army back up. Retreat and regroup is a limited option for the Germans, less so for the Home Guard except to reposition their defence line. Watch out for the wandering Party of nuns ... or Boy Scouts ... not often what they seem!
Been painting 54mm German paratroops this morning and also musing on rules for parachute drops in my Portable Wargame games and beyond. Trying to simulate the dangers of landing in bad terrain and regrouping once landed...
There is something almost time travel like about these particular Airfix figures for many of us. For some reason they have this effect more than other figures apart from maybe the US Marines dingy.
Initially I was having a hard time reading the captions but then I clicked on the pictures to enlarge for a closer look and Hey Presto! the captions were sharp and clear, easy to read.
