Famine or feast

It seems to go in cycles, l either have loads on or almost nothing. We are in one of those busy patches currently on all fronts, which is great in many ways. I fought two face to face games this week - the Jacobite one already alluded to an yesterday the continuing Antietam game. Being retired, having others in the same position and a friend with a room where games can be kept up is most fortunate. We continue to get used to the rules, enjoy my friend’s beautifully painted (and organised) ACW collection he has worked on for years. The photos show me advancing towards the sunken road with my Iron Brigade. We aim to complete the game on Tuesday, after a number of sessions over the last few weeks. Thursday saw me out for a Christmas meal with friends in a well spaced out restaurant. I thoroughly recommend Scott’s at Port Edgar , South Queensferry. The photo shows our view out onto the Queen’s Crossing. Today I will do some shopping then some Christmas tasks before settling down to the Zoom delight that is the Virtual Wargames Club. A cornucopia of banter, inspiration, geekery, Napoleon worship ( not me) and great company.

    1. Thanks Ronnie, he is very organised ( unlike me re books) and has splendid armies to command. Unlike me he manages to maintain the aim in his painting.

  4. Love the Antietam game and the book liked room it's in. I envy your friend as I can see retirement beckoning early in the new year, though as ronniec notes, it may just be more business.
    That restaurant looks very festive.

  5. Impressive looking ACW table. Good to see you are keeping busy and making the most of the winter and retirement time, especially with new Covid variants lurking.

Retired National Park ranger Mannie Gentile on Facebook was I think based at Antietam battlefield.

  6. Both the wargame room/library and the view from the restaurant look very congenial.

I've been retired for a few years, but pretty isolated the last 2. Hoping that will improve in the coming year.

  9. My recent Retirement and gaming via Zoom have ushered in more gaming than I thought possible. Three games per week is common and four not unheard of. Nice looking table and view.
