Some further thoughts on Mark’s Little Soldiers…

Not really settling to much today. Got some useful practical things done around the house and a wee bit painting, reading and planning-

A few sample painted figures, not finished but just seeing what I feel about the look. They originally were painted in Army Painter Leather Brown jackets, trousers and helmets  ( going down a Hungarian route) but I just wasn’t sure…
The Tintin book arrived this morning and it is good to read it again. Further shots of unfinished infantry beside some illustrations from the book. Bergland MLS figures used.
I am considering calling the country Ostarrîchi but we will see…

  2. King Ottokar's Sceptre was one of my favourite Tintin Adventure books. Useful inspiration for the little soldiers.

  4. I love how the soldiers with their packs look like they’re on campaign or adventuring, while the ones without packs are ever so slightly hunched they look like they’re ready to shout “halt! Who goes there?” Or stop some curious interloper who is sneaking into their base.

  5. Dear Alan, regarding uniform colours Greens and Browns for opposing forces or a type of blues. But this is imagi-Nations, any uniform colours that you like is good enough. There are no limits to creativity or imagination. Toy Soldiers must be shiny though!!! I use a Clear Super Gloss spray for car repairs it’s very glossy and very strong. Some people suggested using a yacht clear gloss varnish I never used these but if anyone has any tips on Yacht varnish please let me know am interested to hear about the experience. Regarding rules any but must be fun - perhaps home made rules? TInTin’s King Ottakar’s Scepter is wonderful inspiration and perhaps Prisoner of Zenda. Thank you for sharing. Quinn

    1. Gloss yacht varnish is extremely tough, very shiny and doesn't yellow with age.

Water proof when dry (you'd expect that really).

  6. I quite like the colours.

I am tempted by these but think I will wait until Mark produces the 1848 range he has been talking about - I have always fancied gaming that period...

    1. 1848 will be splendid, hopefully to make an appearance in the not too distant future…
