  1. An eerie place, even in the summer sunshine? I have visited few preserved battlefields except the Western Front trenches and cemeteries of Belgium and France and as the Culloden signs says “this is a War Grave ... treat it with respect”. (This was not always the case in Belgium and France, esp. with local children at Dixmuide) This makes for strange and story rich ground ...

    1. Not really, just poignant in the glorious sun.

  3. Looks like a rather atypical day at Drumossie Muir! I recognise the little thatched cottage as the visitor centre/museum....I have be three times I think, and also to the nearby Fort George twice, where there is a regimental museum of the local highland regiment, which became the QOH before final amalgamation with the Gordon's to become "The Highlanders", one of the battalions of the Royal Regiment of Scotland

  4. Splendid! I'm sure that you had the most interesting day. We can now move our conversation from the lack of swords in the Jacobite army to whether Leanach cottage is contemporary to the battle!

    1. What should I read/borrow from you Ronnie? I am too lazy to trace back all the threads on the F&D forum.

  6. I refuse to believe this is actually Culloden... something strange has happened to the sky and it's a weird blue colour...
