We were invited to my eldest’s for lunch in Falkirk today. Here is a picture of a sculpture at the station-
It had an Rowland Emett vibe to it and looks great. My eldest had bought me a book which was a lovely surprise- A splendid charity shop find and right up my street..
I look forward to reading this over the weekend.
Ooh I like that sculpture !
ReplyDeleteIt is terrific fun indeed.

Did you know that John Betjeman made a film and poetry about Metroland?
ReplyDeleteI did and have read and seen. Thanks for reminding me though , most helpful. This is an aspect of blogging that l really like, the exchange of ideas.

Now that book looks interesting! I love all those old adverts for Metro-land and other early 20th century Tube posters. Have you ever seen 'Secrets of the Undergound' on TV? They often show examples, either from the Transport Museum, or remnants left on walls in old abandoned tunnels.
ReplyDeleteI do too. I have an excellent book “ Frank Pick’s London “ which I picked up at the V& A which is well worth a read. I have seen the programme you mentioned and found it most interesting.
