I bought these on eBay recently-
Some of them were figures I did not know at all. I was particularly interested in those l have marked with an X in the photo. The mounted Indian has great animation and will work well as part of a mounted unit. The figure in the war bonnet is very striking and will probably be a leader in forthcoming games. Finally the figure in the bottom right of the picture shading his eyes is full of character and will be a scout or look out! I was pleased with my haul.
I am glad you get such joy from these old figures and their refurbishment though it holds no attraction for me.

It is the H G Wells gaming, nostalgia, link to the Herald of my youth and the pleasure of allowing them to fight another day that is much that motivates me. Not to mention the hands on joy of sorting them.

Good that these old soldiers will get their chance to fight on, some nice figures in the collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks, that’s how I feel. There are aren’t there.

Hello Alan. Nicely animated figures.
ReplyDeleteChecking with Norman Joplin’s Great Book Of Hollowcast Figures, from left to right top row - Crescent 1950s 54mm, Britain’s Indian Set 16N, Britain’s chief on horse set 152
Bottom row first two are both Crescent 50mm, then a larger Crescents 1950s Chief with spear, firing simple to plastic Herald figures is probably Harvey 1950s, next Britain’s chief with tomahawk 14N, finally 1950s Crescent In bronzed paint shielding eyes from glare pose.
Apart from the Britain’s figures which were issued prewar and many reissued 1950s postwar, most of the others are fairly common 1950s.
Mark Man Of TIN adds: Britain’s cowboys like these chiefs on horses were first issued in 1908 and the chief with tomahawk fifth from left on bottom row also 1908, so veteran figures or poses!
DeleteMost helpful Mark, thank you.
