Yesterday.

In Edinburgh yesterday for my weekly course. Beforehand l walked from the West End to the NMS via Lothian Road-

The Quarter Mike area of restaurants, shops, flats etc built out old hospital buildings from the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as well as new buildings.
Excellent exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy at the foot of the Mound. Well worth going to. For those further afield here is a link to the online version-

First outing for the new autumn and winter headgear- a tad too Peaky Blinders?
More of the Quarter Mile and the familiar old hospital buildings. Saw this interesting artwork on hoardings nearby-
Coffee and bun at Soderberg , a splendid place to sit and think…
Not to mention an interesting lecture on Edinburgh authors and publishers, a grand day out indeed!

  1. The Old Royal Infirmary, I remember it well. I was responsible for installing an early internet to all the academic units in the hospital. It was amazing how many access routes there were throughout the building, some quite secret and unknown to staff who worked there and the public would be quite unaware of. I shudder to think how much asbestos they found during the buildings renovation.

  2. Looks a grand day out. The Quarter Mile buildings look beautiful. The St Giles picture is thought provoking. And I love some of those Wilson pieces. The Tallisker one is very “Whisky Galore”.
Oh and finishing off with coffee and pastry (fika?).
