Airfix v Timee

Looked out my painted Timee figures to compare with the Airfix Space Warriors -

Some Timee , one with a changed head and others with slight postion changes of arms.
Wookie/ furry Timee Aliens , simple static pose but they manage to look menacing…
Airfix Space Warrior figures, better animated and sculpted. Have more charm about them. Even the baddies on the right. I guess Airfix had more money to put into their design and manufacturing.
My vote is for the Airfix. However the Timee will certainly have their place alongside in any Space Close Wars to come…

  1. Very nice, the Timee ones may be a bit more static but they look pretty decent, looking forward to seeing the game hit the table in the future!

  2. I never knew Airfix did Spacemen - they look interesting though.

    1. They are interesting aren’t they? I guess quite a few folk have not heard of them.

  3. The TimMee conversions or limb changes to add more animation works well, as does the head swap. Otherwise they do have a stiff toy soldierness about them including the Wookie-Likies. Colour really works as 30s to 50s SciFi ...

    1. I’m glad I did the conversion work too, it does integrate the Timee and Airfix better. The stiff Wookie-Likes give them a sense of menace and also hints at rank upon upon rank conquering the Galaxy or at least trying to…

  4. Those Airfix figures must be really old...like 1960's vintage? I had quite a lot of 54mm Airfix in the mid Seventies, but I don't recall space men....or maybe, I just wasn't interested in them? Painted up, they don't look too bad at all!

    1. They only appeared c. 1981 and these boxes disappeared like much of Airfix soon after. They were briefly reissued in bags in shiny silver plastics in the 80s or 90s. I only had one box load for years.

    2. Mark says it all. They do indeed look great painted which brings their animation to life for me.

  5. Airfix definitely my preference, the designs show quite a lot of variety and the poses are much more active. Who are perceived as the goodies and the baddies is interesting.

  6. While consensus may go to Airfix for the poses, TimMee are still readily and inexpensively available, so they get the win in my book, for that reason alone. Plus i loved the turtle alien as a kid.

  7. Lovely memory of your childhood. Timee are less readily available in the UK and expensive to import…
