Twenty shades of pink and green

Up town yesterday and thought I would give the local sewing shop some custom. When in looking for white felt for basing. None in at all ! If I wanted any shade of green or pastel pink shades l would have been fine. I left disappointed. I know it’s July and Christmas craft isn’t high on people’s agenda ( that being said The Works has loads of Christmas card making stuff in) but plain white felt surely is a shop staple? Anyone looked on line and was confounded by the variety of thicknesses, need to have a think.

Anyway glad the heat has been turned down here. Days were hot but nights were the worst bit. How did you, dear readers, find it?

  1. Perhaps the ferocious sun could have bleached a pale pink felt!
It was too hot for a couple of days/nights to be in the war-room but last night managed to set out a column to ambush and paint the armour on some Winkie Jaegers.

  2. Not as bad as in the South but I look forward to a mild Autumn (not to wish my time away etc - but weatherwise)

  3. Our standard summer nights in Auckland are dreadful - overnight low can be 16-18c which is TOO BLOODY HOT to sleep, even after 33 years of acclimatisation! I prefer overnight lows in single digits, which is what we have at the moment! Having said that, its certainly been ridiculously hot in the UK in the last few days - highest recorded temp in 137 years here is 32.6c and our summers are supposed to be hot! I did note with wry amusement that even in the current situation, my old stomping ground up on the NE coats of Scotland only seemed to peak at about 18c :)

    1. Nights are the worst, not surprised you haven’t acclimatised!
Do folk have air conditioning in New Zealand at home?
A couple of nights was enough for me!

  4. Out here in California it’s been 108 (Farenheit) and we’ve been hiding out inside. It’s been a very hot summer with a couple of records broken. We’ve got a Hobby Lobby down the road that’s already got Christmas decorations out.

  5. The heat is coming to Oregon next week, with most of the week expected to be around 100F/37C. Not as bad as some places, but too hot for my Scottish ancestry. ha ha
