Missing

I don’t know about you but I am missing the interactions that comment leaving on other blogs brings. For me and I suspect for many others, it is in that dialogue or conversation that we gain so much. I feel very strange not leaving a word of encouragement , bad joke, musical reference or question on my reading list blogs not to mention others. For me we are all diminished by it. It is certainly missing for me anyway.

On a brighter note I was able to volunteer today for first time in the school l retired from , l was no longer missing . It has been over two years since Covid allowed me to go in. It is good to be back and to do my bit…

  1. I agree that commenting offers up important interactions. Why are you not commenting?

    1. I am not commenting because of technical issues I have referred to before. Blogger is not allowing me to comment as I said in previous posts. I have tried unsuccessfully to sort this out.

    2. Hi Alan, when using Edge on WIN 10 PC, how is your Tracking Prevention set in SETTINGS -> PRIVACY ?

  2. I like to comment upon others' postings, but first I have to have something to say! Something different. I sometimes with there was a 'like' thingy, basically as a 'I've been here and enjoyed your article', without having to scratch around for something to say about it.

  3. That's cool you are able to volunteer at your old school. This week is Teacher Appreciation Week in the US. There are a number of teachers I have appreciated over the years. Good teachers are a treasure.

  4. I agree with you on the commenting issue. I can comment on yours anonymously, but for some inexplicable reason I cannot comment on some others, like Palouse Wargaming Journal and Prometheus in Aspic, even anonymously. I can remove some of the data privacy protections on my laptop to comment, but I don’t know how to do that on my phone, so it is much less convenient to comment. So I am missing some of the interaction too.
Anyway, thumbs up on the school volunteering.

    1. Chris, the reason for no anonymous commenting on Palouse Wargaming Journal is that I do not allow anonymous commenting.

I turned “Anonymous” commenting on as a test. Let’s see if I get flooded with SPAM…

  5. It's very odd...lots of people seem to be having this issue with Blogger...but I have had no problems with comments.

  6. Mark Man of TIN says: I also find I cannot comment on certain (Blogger?) blogs which is frustrating.
Excellent news that your school volunteering has returned after two years of COVID exclusion.

  7. It does seem quite random at the moment. Sometimes I can leave comments, at other times I can't and sometimes it will only let me do it anonymously. I agree it's annoying when you want to acknowledge something on a post or interact with the blogger. Hopefully it's one of Bloggers occasional glitches and will rectify itself soon.

  10. Tradgardmastare,

I had this problem some time ago as a result of an unwanted 'upgrade'. I looked on the internet, and found several suggestions like these:
    https://makingamark.blogspot.com/2012/09/do-you-have-problem-leaving-comments-on-Blogger-blogs.html
    https://support.google.com/blogger/thread/4035725/can-t-leave-comments?hl=en
Give their ideas a try. They might just cure the problem.

Kudos for volunteering to go back into school. I was asked to, but refused as I felt that I was out of touch with current teaching methods when I retired, and doubt that the situation would have improved in the interim! Also, the school wanted me to pay for my own enhanced CRB check (or whatever it is called now), which I thought was a bit of a cheek as they were asking for my help, not the other way around.

    Good luck to you.

    All the best,

    Bob

  12. Hello, James Shepherd here. Anonymously!! Before I just used name request on the drop down box, and no problem leaving comments. Then it started asking for a URL....not just your blogsite, others as well. Anyway, since I have no idea what URL is, I sort of gave up, then, tried the nonny mouse route.
