“Ever since Mr Baggins found the secret rooms off the back pantry things haven’t been the same round the hill. There’s been a clunking and a clanking, a coming and a going. Sack after sack dragged out into the light of day. Now Mr Baggins and his friends dress up in rusty old armour, march back and forth, here and there and end the day with a slap up meal and beer. They calls themselves the Society for Convivial Anachronism or SCA for short. Arrows flying everywhere, rummaging through the fireworks and emptying them into funny iron tubes, but that’s a story for another time”
Overheard at “The Green Dragon “ inn near closing time...
Mr Frodo Baggins and his young friends in all that noisy , rusty and clanking armour.
The aghast customers and staff of “ The Green Dragon “
Another view of the SCA fellows in costume.
(I have found it hard to settle on any particular figures to paint this week, doing a bit then putting them aside. However these resin hobbits were a joy to paint and I am currently working on more of them...)
I love the idea of hobbits dressing up as medieval characters!
ReplyDeleteMe too plus it is a good way to use these Kickstarter figures because they really aren’t Middle Earthy are they? This way I get to use them in a way that I am comfortable with if you know where I am coming from.
DeleteLovely collection of figures Tradgardmastare. I know what you mean about not settling on one project - I think it's currently a very unsettling time and I keep changing direction too.
ReplyDeleteGood to keep going but gently and drift with the hobby current...
DeleteI'm always in favor of hobbits (although not a fan of resin minis). And convivial society is a bit anachronistic these days. But these rustic lads rambling about and having fun is a great diversion.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a big fan of resin miniatures either but these have been surprisingly easy to deal with. More rustic revels anon.
DeleteHi Alan- Yes, I've seen several brands of Resin Hobbits-all mighty good- and I might just invest in some of them sometime in the future. Inspiring Collection - keep up the good work. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteYou can’t go wrong with hobbits, there is something intrinsically charming and comforting about them.
