Portable Wargame rules with a Wellsian vibe and a snow walk too
Really enjoyed walking this morning in the new snow that had fallen overnight in the Duchy-
Played a small game today using the Portable Wargame rules but with old figures. I liked the fun combination of LW look with modern wargaming rules.
I can practically hear that squeaky crunch of the snow underfoot. Sadly, despite many hours of snow here, the quantities were so small that it's just like a bad case of dandruff. Must have been very comforting to come back inside for that game.
That’s what it is like normally for us. Seven inches last night when measured.. l love being out in decent snow but am so lucky that I don’t need to go to work in it. The game was fun looking out at the snow as I played.
Thanks Stokes ! I was gaming with a friend yesterday afternoon in Linlithgow and he was saying that two skiers passed his house on the road on skis. My youngest daughter showed me a clip of tv news where her friend in Glasgow was snowboarding and being interviewed. It is so beautiful. Btw do you know the book “Snow” by Marcus Sedgwick . It is a great read.
Good looking game, looks like it was good fun. We have had about 4" up in the north which is unusual, I don't like it but the dog loves it, so not all bad!!
That all looks very Canadian! My cross country skis are so old, I can't replace the boots because the bindings have all changed in 20 years and by the time there are more in the stores it will be summer. I am glad you can go out and have a tramp in it. Love the B/W photos. Be well Lord Duke.

DeleteLovely outdoors scenery, and fun looking game! You might almost have enough snow for some cross-country skiing.
ReplyDeleteBest Regards,

ReplyDeleteIt was indeed, the Portable Wargame works really well.
DeleteMy friend has a relatively young dog who had never seen snow before. It has taken him some time to get used to it. Not surprising really!

ReplyDeleteI am told folk are skiing in the centre of Edinburgh. I recall a teenage party I hosted where some folk skied out to my home in the Edinburgh suburbs.
DeleteNo snow here , slightly jealous , but at least fine - for a change !.
ReplyDeleteRain is such a downer compared with snow.
