Arrivals

Yesterday saw a flurry of activity in the garden to plant more seeds. We all worked together on this. Time also to flick through old copies of the American magazine “Garden Railways “ for inspiration. Some work was done on the Ruslanders but not too much. The weather here in the Duchy is to be colder and unsettled so less reading in the garden or alfresco meals. Often when the beech hedge comes out it gets quite windy and this is happening once more. A couple of arrivals-
I located these old Britains figures who will take their place in the Rusland Army. I got them in some eBay purchase ages ago and they have now found their niche. A repair to one of their rifles and some paint and they will serve . The plastic figure has been pva prepared and started to be painted. He will serve as a scout and guide.
The courier brought the first of my garden railway purchases yesterday. Here they are having been unpacked. More about them over the coming week.
Today I hope to fight the Bit of Bother in Tradgardistan game  so be ready for a battle report later, probably tomorrow.

    1. Hopefully it won’t be too fiddly. Battery powered so I can’t blow it and myself up!

    2. I've never seen anything quite like that Railcar - who is the manufacturer?

  4. Hello Alan!
I was looking at you in your garden on FB this AM and it looked quite lush by comparison with my bit of Canuckistan which got hit with a lashing of winter this weekend.
I am fascinated by your garden railway project. Joy's grandkids and I were watching a video where someone mounted a GoPro type camera on a LEGO train that went in and out of a house - Australia, by the looks of it. Quite impressive and 3 year old Ollie was keen to try it. I shall be watching your project and taking notes.
    Cheers,
    Michael

    1. We have had a lot of sun which has really brought things on in the garden, most noticeably the Beech hedge. It has been a great chance for getting things planted and the wilderness tamed. I subscribe to an American garden railway magazine and I am often amazed by the impressive layouts indoor, outdoors and a combination of the two. Mine will be more modest but hopefully fun. Ollie could set you off in a new direction... perhaps the pulp project could inform a train track?
